Mothering

Mother Cardinal and young

Time passes very quickly for me. Does it fly for you, too?

This winter, I took a scheduled break from teaching, so I could do some concentrated work in other areas of my life. This website rebuild is one of the things I have accomplished.

Winter is now spring, and my new web-baby is launched! Here is a mother cardinal tending her young one, shot in my backyard last summer. She has just finished feeding him sunflower seeds from our feeder –pushing them right down his open beak.

That mothering metaphor is so appropriate right now as my first grandchild is now seven weeks old, and I have just returned from visiting him for the first time. What a joy!

I have 3 grandchildren and enjoy them so much. It’s a completely different experience from raising your own, isn’t it? I worry much less and enjoy them to the hilt!

Congratulations on the new grandson. Being a grandmother is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. I hope you are able to spend a lot of time with him as he grows up.
