Layers Upon Layers at ProChemical & Dye

screen printing with Procion MX Dyes

The second week at Pro-Chem was all about printing with thickened dyes. Layers Upon Layers is one fun class to teach, especially when I have such a terrific and willing group of 14 students! In no time at all we were prepping screens both big and small for our week-long adventure with silkscreens, thermofax screens, soy wax, corn dextrin and more!

Most students chose to use cotton, silk, or rayon for their cloth. Of the photos to follow, more than half were from students who had never used a screen or these techniques before. There were many more wonderful pieces, more than I can add here. The class really rocked it! I wish I had managed a photo together with this terrific group!

I love the examples and really want to take your class on this. Hopefully you will have one at Schweinfurth again, but on this class. See you soon.

Loved, loved, loved this class and highly recommend it to anyone who would like a week full of fun, with huge amounts of information and lots of amazing self made fabric as the result.

Lucky students! It would be so much fun to take this workshop from you someday, Carol. I would love to see how you use corn dextrin.

Will you be teaching any online classes? Interested in your dye classes and 50 shades of gray.

Hi Lisa,
I do plan online classes. In fact, I will be offering my first at Craft Napa online this January. The classes will go up on the website soon, and registration will begin October 15. Here is the link:

As far as other online classes planned, the best thing to do is hop on the newsletter for the latest info. There is a sign up link in the sidebar of this blog, up at the top!
